Socio-Political Engagement of Contemporary Javanese Literature

This paper analyzes four selected short stories in Javanese literature entitled “Durmogati” by Budianto, “Maju Tatu Mundur Ajur” (“Damned if One Does, Damned Doesn’t”) Budiono, “Bojo” (“Wife”) and “Apik Meneng” (“It’s Better to be Silent”) Harjono which were all published 2018. In Indonesia, literature—together with other regional literatures—is a part of or complimentary Indonesian but it has not received much attention at the national level, let alone international level. However, been less vocal than literature. this article, I will examine socio-political engagements society. Using Phillips’ ethnographic approach Foucault’s theory power distribution, analyze how are related democracy, people’s power, equality, corruption Indonesia after fall Suharto as president 1998.
